Problematic start for Stirlands

Winning the toss, Stirlands put Bexhill into bat and were made to pay for early missed chances as Bexhill rattled up 140 for no wicket after only 29 overs.

Tight bowling from then on, especially by young left arm spinner Dan Beal, restricted the home side to 234 for six by the close.

Wickets were shared by the impressive Alex Garlick with three for 55 from 18 overs and new skipper David Briance, who claimed two for 30.

At 69 for one, Stirlands were beginning to make amends but a loss of three wickets in two overs for no runs put an end to any hope of Stirlands taking anything out of the match. Only the impressive Nick Hunt and Will Gubbins showed any real resistance.

This was a sharp lesson for Stirlands over the standards required at this level and what needs to be worked on to achieve them.

This weekend they aim to fare better at home to Cuckfield.
