Punters will be happy to see Rainfall on bank holiday at Goodwood

Rainfall advertised her talents at the very highest level last year and deserves the utmost respect on her return in the West Sussex County Times On House Stakes at Goodwood on Monday.

The four-year-old started off her career for Mark Johnston with a ready victory in a Thirsk maiden and was victorious at Royal Ascot a couple of starts later, beating the talented Red Jazz in the Jersey Stakes.

She ran with huge credit when third in the Falmouth Stakes on her Group One debut and went on to strike in Listed company, before rounding off the year with another placed effort in the Sun Chariot Stakes.

It is hardly surprising that she was moved to Godolphin having shown such a high level of form at three, and there is every chance there is further improvement in the tank.

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor’s runners have improved in recent weeks and this classy filly could well add to his tally.

Clive Cox is enjoying a decent run of form and his Lethal Force must be followed in the Worthing Herald Maiden Auction Stakes.

The juvenile’s first-season sire Dark Angel is enjoying a fine start to his career at stud and this particular colt really caught the eye on debut at Ascot.

Although sent off a largely unconsidered 33-1 chance, he soon recovered from a tardy start and ran a screamer to fill the runner-up spot in what looked a fair contest.

This looks another hot affair but Lethal Glaze should take plenty of pegging back.
