In a fast-paced game, Hurst took the lead with a try in the opening minutes. However this didn’t deter a noble Luffa side, who hit back with a well-deserved try from outstanding performer Dan Patterson and excellent hard work from James Fitzmaurice and James Amos.

Hurst responded with two clinical tries to make it 21-5. However in the last play of the half an interception from masterful captain Tom Hutchin brought it back to 21-12.

Hurst started the second half strongly with a try to make it 26-12, and although Luffa enjoyed good territory in the second half they could only manage a penalty from Hutchin to make it 26-15.

In the last ten minutes, Luffa began to increase their pressure on Hurst only to get hit by two breakaway tries to make the score 36-15.

Bishop Luffa battled superbly and worked as a brilliant team to the final whistle. Coach Dan Munro and Tim Brown were praised for leading the team as this was only Luffa’s second-ever county cup final in the school’s history.
