BOGNOR'S under-eights mini rugby players were in fine form when their club hosted the Burleigh Travel mini and youth rugby festival.

Teams from all over the country travelled to take part – and the host club’s under-eights continued their impressive season.

The Bears were led by Tom Cohen and showed remarkable skill given that most of the team are in their first season.

Harry Isham scored tremendous tries from long runs supported by the gazelle-like pace of Oliver Page and Owen Thomas.

Rosey Dowling, Lewis Arbuckle, Bradley Thompson and Flynn Bennett showed great determination.

The under-eights’ success has seen them secure a sponsor for next season - Ryan Cars of Bognor Road, Chichester.

Their success was shared with the Bognor under-tens, who also won their age group’s plate final in a fantastic game that saw the team hold on to a 5-0 lead with grit and determination against a team from Northampton.

On Sunday teams of under-13s to under-15s competed and Bognor under-14s came away with a plate final win.

BRFC minis chairman Lisa Molyneaux said: “The atmosphere throughout the weekend was really fun with hundreds of players and their families enjoying playing and supporting in the sunshine.

“There was some fantastic hospitality laid on by BRFC volunteers who provided tasty refreshments and lots of laughter all day long.”
