The inaugural rugby tens tournament for Year 11 pupils got off to a flying start.

Teachers from St Philip Howard and Felpham Community College put together the format and sent invitations to schools across West Sussex - and seven schools took part.

More than 100 players and spectators braved the wind and rain to take part and there was some truly inspirational rugby on display.

Taking part were St Philip Howard, Felpham CC, The Regis Academy, The Selsey Academy, Midhurst Rother College and Westergate.

Well done to all the players who played in the true spirit of the game and to Bognor Rugby Club for hosting it.

Worthy winners with an unbeaten record were Midhurst Rother College. Runners up were Felpham Community College, who put in a great effort with wins in all but one game.

The Felpham squad was a mix of experienced players and students were stepping on to the rugby field for the first time. They played some excellent running rugby and were tough in defence, while having to cope with terrible weather conditions.

Their squad comprised Will Cullen, Joe Benjamin, Jake Emerson, Jake Fuller, Jordan Lee, Matt Dodd, Matt Hambleton, Devon Jones, Danny Cooper, Tom Sargeant, Zak Boniface, Billy Fry and George Richards.
