Smashing new clubhouse served up in time for Bognor open weekend

After a year of fundraising and a winter of construction, the facilities have already started to benefit members, who can offer visitors enhanced hospitality.

The clubhouse has fully-equipped kitchen and changing-room facilities and the existing tennis pavilion, now renovated to complement the new clubhouse, offers a spacious and welcoming communal function room.

While skilled contractors have played a major part in enabling Bognor TC to realise their long-term vision of creating first-rate accommodation, many enthusiastic members have also contributed by freely volunteering time, energy and expertise to achieve an outcome that all can be truly proud of.

Now, after the success of recent open days, the club are opening their facilities for an open weekend. If you have been considering taking up tennis as a beginner, improver, returner to the game or accomplished player, they are offering an ideal opportunity to hit a few tennis balls or visit our club grounds in Nyewood Lane, adjacent to Bognor Football Club, to see what is involved in making tennis a part of your leisure time activities.

This Saturday (April 30), from 1.30pm, their grass and hard courts will be available for anyone to join in with members playing gently-structured tennis. People will be on hand to provide encouragement and information. Refreshments will be served.

On Sunday, from 10am to midday, professional coaches from Generation Tennis, who provide an excellent coaching service for the club, will offer free coaching to visiting children and adults. This is a great opportunity to discover if tennis is a sport you would like to play regularly.

Bognor TC cater for all categories and ages and provide accessible coaching throughout the year for players from beginners to performance players who wish to play in the Sussex leagues.

In addition to term-time coaching courses, following the success of their Easter camps, Generation Tennis will run more tennis camps and master-classes during the summer for children and for adults.

Social tennis is thriving, with three sessions a week catering for players who wish to play regularly and take the sport at a leisurely pace. Since introducing a ‘rusty rackets’ course, the club have attracted new members wishing to return to tennis - all with the goal of improving their game.
