Softball star Oliver impresses as GB bosses look on
Chichester Falcons junior Oliver Howley has been impressing the top ranks in GB softball in the Great Britain Fastpitch Softball League in Farnham Park.
Days are filled with matches, coaching and other softball activities at the purpose-built baseball and softball facility near Slough.
Single-sex teams of male and females compete in a round-robin format on the first four days, which culminate in a tournament day to complete the series.
Drafted into the Meteors team, 15-year-old Oliver stood shoulder to shoulder with some of the best softballers in the UK and rose to the occasion with great aplomb, coming away with three hits and a walk having played centre-field.
Falcons coach David Morris, who plays in the league for Filinvest Int’l, said: “Oliver works very hard at practice with us and is a great role model for the rest of our team.
“With his skills at a young age, he is naturally attracting interest from the GB softball organisation and we look forward to supporting him as he continues to improve.”
