Southbourne lost by 17 shots away to a strong Martlets team in the second round of the West Sussex knockout cup.

Scores: Audrey Bull, John Hardy, Robin Armstrong & Dave Alner (s) lost 21-13; Karen Alner, Andy Smith, Rodney Bull & Antony Bull (s) lost 29-20.

DONNINGTON

Donnington invited Hunston to play the first friendly of the new year. They always enjoy playing their neighbours.

On rink one, Donnington’s Janine Bartlett, Chris White, Maggie Maggs, Mike Beal took on Hunston’s Daphne Greenwood, Pat Guyatt, Chris Butler and Tony Hack.

Hunston were strong opposition but Donnington played better than the final score of 35-11 suggests.

Rink-two bowlers for Donnington were Innes Taylor, Alison Beal, Wendy Dean and Brian Taylor, taking on Bob Hodnett, Brian Lacy, Trevor Wilson and Alvin Hale.

Hunston started strongly but Donnington played well. Hunston just pipped a 15-14 win.

FITTLEWORTH

Arundel 42 Fittleworth 18

Fittleworth did not get 2016 off to a good start with their first friendly away to Arundel.

Scores: Jane Adsett, Pauline Gilpin, Monica Enticknap, Bernard Adsett lost 23-6; Simon Herbert, Audrey Hodgson, Tessa Clegg, Sue Judd lost 19-12.
