Sunshine prize on the cards for Observer's top golfer

FOUR local golfers next Wednesday (Sept 30) play off for a trip of a lifetime.

The occasion is the final of the Observer's heat of the Sunshine Challenge '“ and the prize is much sought after.

The winner will fly off to the Algarve in November to play in the national final against winners of other newspapers' contests from around the country.

Last year's Observer winner Alistair Strange is among this year's semi-finalists, who will gather at Cowdray Park Golf Club at 8am for the semi-finals. The final will be held after lunch.

Vying with Goodwood member Strange for the big prize are Michael Snuggs, who plays at Chichester GC, Doreen Wilkins (Portsmouth) and Martin Gill (Avisford Park).

The Observer would like to thank Cowdray Park for hosting this year's final.

Two members of the club's vibrant seniors section have even volunteered to go around the course on the day with the two pairs to help ball-spot and navigate.
