The event has a charitable element as Dennis was a keen supporter of the Rocking Horse children’s charity.

Forty riders contested the Dennis Doughty Memorial 25 with Alex Napier of Blazing Saddles recording an excellent 53min 38sec in cool and breezy conditions.

A close-fought contest between the ladies saw Mary Campbell of Chichester Westgate Triathlon Club take the honours, while Aaron Smith of Bognor Regis CC was the fastest junior and 13th overall.

Fourteen riders broke the all-important hour marker with average speeds in excess of 25mph and the club raised more than £200 for Rocking Horse.
