Sussex County Cricket Club are moving ahead with plans to appoint a number of ambassadors who will become a key link in the club’s drive for greater engagement with local towns and villages.
The ambassadors will help to keep their wider local community up to date with all the developments at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground.
The aim of the scheme is to improve two-way communication and to get closer to the broader Sussex community and to spread the work of Sussex Cricket far and wide.
One ambassador will be recruited in each of the following areas: Arun, Adur, Brighton & Hove, Chichester, Horsham, Crawley, Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes, Mid Sussex, Rother, Wealden and Worthing. The roles are voluntary but each one will receive membership at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground.
Chief executive Zac Toumazi said: “Sussex County Cricket Club is based in Hove, but the club belongs to everyone who lives in the county. We’re determined to share that message countywide so the Ambassadors will instantly become key members of the Sussex family.
“We already have links with recreational cricket across the county, this initiative is intended to enhance our efforts and engage the next generation of cricket fan.”
Sussex Cricket is committed to create a sense of belonging for those living away from Brighton and Hove and with increasing participation, membership and both matchday and non-matchday attendance, the club also aims to drive and improve community engagement.
“We will want their opinions on how we are moving forward, what we can do better, have them share news with their local community and understand what community initiatives are in place or are required” Toumazi added.
“We want them to encourage their friends and family to come to the ground, not just for cricket, perhaps they need a venue for party, a business meeting or even a wedding. My message is we are here for everyone.”
Sussex will appoint several representatives in all districts across the county.
