Sussex tennis starlets impress at Chichester

Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club hosted a Sussex club ten-and-under green ball matchplay event.

The grade six event was the latest in a series of junior tennis tournaments which will be staged at the club over the 2012/2013 winter competition season.

In the mixed singles event, each match comprised two short sets to four games, with a match tie-break if necessary.

Jacob Harding won the gold medal by beating Noah Burton 4-1, 5-3 in the final. Both players receive regular coaching with the Chichester Tennis Academy.

Ryan Stribling, on a short break from Scotland, won the third/fourth place play-off against Oliver Fernandez of Hampshire 4-2, 4-2, to claim bronze. Stefan Court, also from Hampshire, won the back draw final.

Tournament organiser Peter Cook said: “We were treated to some extremely high quality tennis matches again. It was very encouraging to see some new faces at the club.

“Word is spreading - Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club deliver good-quality competition opportunities for juniors of all ages.”
