Starting at Pevensey Castle and finishing at Battle Abbey, it was a one-off race to mark the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings.

Runners headed along the 1066 footpath (the same route the Normans took in 1066) across fields and over styles, and Baker completed the route in a time of 1.48.40.

A week after winning the Chichester Half Marathon for the fifth year in a row, and a day after representing Chichester Runners in the Susssex Cross-Country League at Goodwood, Baker pulled away over the second half of the race

and finished nearly a couple of minutes clear of the runner-up.
