Top darts aces step up to the oche in Selsey

With the cut-off date looming for the world championship, for many top players this is their last chance to qualify.

Sussex County Super League

Littlehampton played host to Roffey and Observer-area players helped produce a 9-0 whitewash victory.

Littlehampton opened the scoring with wins for Gary Blackwood (3-2) and Midhurst brothers Andy Hills (3-0) and Jason Hills (3-2).

Littlehampton took a 5-0 lead with wins from Bognor’s Mick Rowland (3-0) and Craig Stoner (3-1).

The best match of the evening was between Chichester’s Adi Linfield and Roffey’s Tony Peters. Peters took the opening leg, before Linfield’s superb reply of 19, 14 and 13-dart winning legs to set him up on top of the averages with 25.75.

The first of Littlehampton’s debut players, James Stephenson, won 3-0, and Terry Howse did the same.

Littlehampton’s second debut player stole the limelight with a 3-0 victory and a man-of-the-match average of 26.84, giving Littlehampton the bonus points to head the league on 11 points.

Highest finishes came from Jason Hills (100) and Terry Howse (119).

Littlehampton had six players in action in the Super league play-offs. With no success in the singles and champion of champions knockout, success came in the pairs.

Littlehampton A, made up of Observer-area players, took second and third place in the pairs, with Midhurst pair Andy and Jason Hills having to settle for third, losing out to the Newhaven pair 3-2.

The Newhaven pair completed victory when they defeated the Littlehampton pair of Terry Howse and Courtney Wilson, from Bognor, 3-2 in the final.

Bognor Friday Night League

Division one concluded with The Ship remaining top with a game in hand – thus lifting the title.

Division two sees BRSA A going into catch-up week with a nine-point lead over second-placed Cabin.

The division-three title is to be decided when Chichester Snooker Club play their game in hand against third-placed Claremont Cobras.

CSC are two points behind new league leaders BRSA B and look good to retain top spot they have held most of the season.

Bognor Star Darts

With the top three all winning, there is no change in the league positions.

The Wheatsheaf travelled to in-form Hunston, who were unable to continue their recent form and could not avoid defeat at the hands of the second-placed team.

The Richmond ran out winners against The Railway, but James Greenfield lost his captains’ cup match – meaning Adi Lindfield is clear in second place with three games to go. The top three was completed when third-placed Claremont beat the Newtown Club.

Midhurst & District Winter League
