We’re into the height of summer now in our 14-day trot through the sporting highlights of 2014 – and that means a chance to relive Glorious Goodwood.
It was a fabulous five days of flat racing on the Downs – and most would agree the highlight of the festival on the track was the latest Sussex Stakes showdown, between Kingman and Toronado.
Glorious lived up to expectations and, in places, exceeded them. And Kingman’s beating of Toronado in the QIPCO Sussex Stakes, with James Doyle on board, was terrific.
Racecourse MD Adam Waterworth said: “We were really happy with how the week went. The sun shone for the majority of the week, the racing was first-class, the attendances were great and I think most people will have left with a smile on their faces, which is all we can ask for.
“The week certainly lived up to expectations. The big races were great and we had some really good winners.”
