Wealdstone 4 Rocks 0

The Rocks slip to another defeat after failing to recover from the blow of letting in two goals in the first ten minutes.

The Rocks were without striker Gary Norgate, who is banned for three games after being sent off at Tooting last month, and his place was taken by Howard Neighbour.

On the bench for the Rocks was midfielder James Fraser, back at Nyewood Lane after a spell at the club last season.

The Rocks '“ looking to build on their first league victory of the season against Hornchurch a fortnight ago '“ got off to a terrible start and were two down after ten minutes.

The first came on four minutes when defender James GRAY got up well to glance a near-post header beyond Anthony Ender and into the far corner as the Rocks failed to deal with a long throw.

And things went from bad to worse six minutes later when Greg NGOYI reacted fastest to put away the loose ball when Ender made a great save from a Wealdstone forward.

It gave Darin Killpartrick's men a mountain to climb but in fairness to them, they came back strongly at their hosts.

A corner from Michael Birmingham presented Tim Bond with a free header but he could not direct his header goalwards.

Then Birmingham had a chance to reduce arrears with his head but he couldn't get enough power on it.

The Rocks were enjoying a good spell and Sam Tucknott's cross found Mickey Demetriou at the back post, but he headed straight at the keeper.

And a Birmingham free-kick failed to trouble the home stopper.

After that, the Rocks' pressure blew itself out and Wealdstone became the dominant team again, without adding to those two early goals before the break.

Ngoyi added his second and the hosts' third on the hour, putting the game out of reach for the beleagured Rocks.

The Rocks went close to pulling a goal back with a shot from the edge of the box three minutes into the second half, but the vital third goal in the game went the way of the home team on the hour.

Bognor lost possession on the halfway line and after a neat build-up NGOYI played a 1-2 with a team-mate 20 yards out and lashed his second and Wealdstone's third past Ender.

Killpartrick made two changes '“ perhaps with Tuesday's trip to Tonbridge in mind and this game lost. Birmingham was replaced by Fraser on 62 minutes and Ruben French came on for Stuart Tuck in defence six minutes later.

The Rocks played some patient football in times but in truth, Wealdstone were comfortably in control.

Another half-chance fell to the visitors 15 minutes from time but again the Wealdstone keeper saved.

Rocks midfielder Lewis Ide was booked 11 minutes from time for a late challenge.

Weladstone rubbed salt into the Rocks' wounds in the 83rd minute with a fourth goal, Ryan ASHE flicked the ball over a defender and smashed it past Ender, and to complete a miserable afternoon for the visitors, James Crane was injured in the build-up.

The defeat leaves the Rocks still bottom of the table - and facing a long, hard battle to improve their situation.
