Why luck is a banned word at Nyewood Lane

DARIN KILLPARTRICK has banned the word 'luck' when talking about why his side aren't winning games.

Everyone who was at Tonbridge on Tuesday night would have to agree they deserved something from a game in which they carved out seven or eight clear goalscoring chances.

But Killpartrick said while you could talk about luck after one or two games when you felt you should have had reward, you couldn't keep using it as an excuse if defeats kept on coming.

Goals by Carl Rook and Anthony Storey after 23 and 76 minutes condemned the Rocks to defeat, but both came after periods of dominance by the visitors.

Debut-making Jason Prior, Sam Tucknott, Mickey Demetriou, Charlie Oatway and Michael Birmingham all went close '“ but somehow the Kent hosts kept a clean sheet.

Killpartrick said: "I'm devastated not to come away with at least a point, if not three.

"But I don't want to use the word luck any more '“ I don't want to hear it.

"The fact is results aren't right and they need to change. We can't go on about how unlucky we might be, we need to do something to change it round.

"We can compete with anyone. Tonbridge's management said we didn't deserve to lose this game. But I'm hurting at the way results are going."
