Wicket is green - Pagham's star man is too...

Slinfold won the toss and elected to field first against Pagham in division three west on a wicket which was slightly green after overnight rain.

Pagham were soon in trouble thanks to accurate bowling from T Filby and were facing defeat at 72 for seven.

But as was often the case last season, Wayne Green had other ideas and proceeded to demolish the Slinfold bowling with a variety of attacking shots.

Green was last out when he reached 76 and with support from Mark Ross (31), Pagham ended with a respectable 194 all out.

The pick of the bowlers was H McIntyre (5-58) and Filby (4-54).

Slinfold made a disastrous start and were soon six for two, but managed to recover to some extent, reaching 119 for seven.

But Pagham could not make any further breakthroughs and thanks to Martin Haines (40*), they eventually reached 159 for seven.

The pick of the Pagham bowlers was man-of-the-match Green, who finished with three for 19 from 15 overs.
