MORE than 40 riders contested a warm but windy ten-mile time trial on the A27 staged by Bognor Cycling Club.

Conditions really affected performances with winner Tom Pritchard, of Hampshire Road Club, recording a short 21-minute ride, well off the mark of his previous performances.

With the 30mph barrier not under threat, it was still a rapid performance from Blazing Saddles’ leading lady Elise Sherwell, who borrowed a full time trial bike and sped round in 23min 13sec, almost two minutes faster than the next lady, BRCC’s Kelly Enticott.

Meanwhile Michael Attfield of the promoting club was fastest junior, partly because Aaron Smith had further mechanical issues with his time trial bike.

Attfield, however, had an excellent week – coming ninth in his first mass-start event at Goodwood the previous Tuesday, a ride that clearly motivated him. As the weather continues to warm up so does the season-long competition, and lighter winds will no doubt entice even more riders to challenge for places and points.
