Crawley teachers send out fun lockdown musical message to their students

They are wanting them to know that they are thinking of them still during the lockdown.

Head of performing arts at HTS Phillip Hall said: “We have made a little music video for our students! I let the teachers take instruments home on the last day and when the school had closed, I sent out some ideas of songs we could put together. We have rewritten the lyrics to Shotgun by George Ezra and hope that it might cheer some of our students up while we can’t see them every day!

“When we heard schools were going to close, our first thought was for the students who love coming to school every day and would find this time difficult.

“Musical Futures had just released some materials that schools could use for free during this time and I thought it would be fun to see how our staff would get on in a standard Y8 music lesson!

“Some staff borrowed instruments from us and have had a go at learning something new. We used the backing track from the school resources to help keep everyone together and in time.

“Everyone recorded their clips and sent them to me and I pieced it all together at home!

“I sent a rough draft to staff a couple of days ago and was flooded with emails about how emotional they felt watching it back!

“We hope the HTS students watch this and know we are thinking about them, even though we don’t get to see them every day.”
