Spokeswoman Samantha Moore said: “The Petworth Heritage Weekend team were aiming to build on the success of the last 3 years and we were planning a bigger and better event for this year, but the Covid 19 crisis has caused us to reconsider what we do.

“The weekend will still be going ahead on the 19th & 20th September and some of the venues will be open, with social distancing measures, including Coultershaw Heritage Site and Beam Pump and Burton Mill, a working watermill.

“However, we are also planning an exciting Digital Experience of places of interest around the town that will bring to life many of the stories about Petworth and will be a taster of what is to come in 2021.

“We have created a new webpage where you can learn more and find the links to the Digital Experience. https://Petworthcommunity.org/petworth-heritage-weekend

Also details of the one hour self guided walking tour can be found and downloaded from this site.

“Regular updates will also be on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/PetworthHeritageWeekend/
