South of England Agricultural Society confirms 2021 show dates

The South of England Agricultural Society has announced the dates for its four seasonal shows for 2021.

Spokeswoman Gemma Hook said: “Having been pronounced Good to Go by Visit England, the Society successfully hosted the Autumn Show & Game Fair and Winter Fair in 2020, and although certain elements of the shows will vary to adhere to Covid-19 safety measures, they are confident that, new Government guidelines allowing, they can proceed with four shows in 2021.”

Spring Live! 2021 will be on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25, 9am-5pm, South of England Showground, Ardingly.

“Celebrate the arrival of spring and get out into the great British outdoors at the iconic South of England Showground. Spring Live! features live and interactive entertainment for all the family, hundreds of shopping stalls, and a food hall jam-packed with mouth-watering artisan treats from independent producers.

“Younger visitors can enjoy animal meet and greets, take part in chocolate workshops, learn all about bees and honey, let loose at the funfair and much more. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy, including traditional countryside activities such as maypole dancing and axe throwing.”

The South of England Show 2021 will be on Friday, June 11; Saturday, June 12; and Sunday, June 13, 9am-6.30pm, South of England Showground, Ardingly.

“A perfect autumnal day out for all ages and canine companions, the Autumn Show & Game Fair features a plethora of have-a-go countryside sports, displays and activities, and mouth-watering food and drink stalls – all designed to celebrate the joys of agriculture, countryside pursuits and 2021’s harvest.

“Visitors can try their hand at clay pigeon shooting, fly fishing, air rifle shooting, archery, axe throwing and more, while dog lovers can be wowed by the skilled gundogs and exciting scurries where their dogs can have a go!

The Winter Fair 2021 will be on Saturday, November 20 and Sunday, November 21, 9am-5pm on November 20 and 9am-4pm on November 21, South of England Showground, Ardingly.

“At the Winter Fair, visitors can shop till they drop with an abundance of artisan produce and gifts as well as food and drink on offer from local and independent traders.

“It’s not just about the shopping though; families are sure to enjoy the giant snow globe that they can step inside to capture the perfect Christmas-card-worthy picture. There’s also a street food area with live music, funfair, and of course Santa’s grotto.

“If that weren’t enough, there’s various festive workshops and demonstrations available covering everything from wreath making to decorating festive chocolates.”

The South of England Agricultural Society is a registered charity founded in 1967 from a consolidation of agricultural societies going back to the 1830s. The Society operates from the South of England Showground, a 150-acre site situated just outside Ardingly in the West Sussex countryside.

Visitors attending the Society and Event Centre shows help to fund initiatives and projects that support agricultural education and countryside learning.

Working across Berkshire, East Sussex, Hampshire & the Isle of Wight, Kent, Surrey and West Sussex, the Society’s aims are to showcase agriculture, horticulture and the countryside through annual shows which raise funds that help serve the community through the provision of education, grants, awards, bursaries and scholarships for people with an interest or involvement in agriculture, horticulture and land based industries.
