Celebrating the music of a legend

In the 50 years since Buddy Holly died, few celebrity tragedies have evoked such feeling as the plane crash that killed Buddy, the Big Bopper and 17-year-old Ritchie Valens.

Now a celebration of the music that fuelled the ill-fated tour will visit Worthing's Pavilion Theatre, as Buddy Holly's Winter Dance Party Tour spokeswoman Gemma Nethersole explains.

"January 1959 saw Buddy Holly undertake his final tour.

"Tragically the tour was cut short in February when three of the stars took a plane in order to meet their gruelling tour schedule which plunged Buddy, Ritchie and the Big Bopper to their deaths in Iowa, USA."
