Both the Novium Museum and the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum are competing for the Kids in Museums’ Family Friendly Museum Award.

Undercover museum-going families will visit all of the shortlisted historic attractions over summer to decide which one will claim the title this October.

This year is the first time that either museum has made the award shortlist.

Dan Snow, historian, broadcaster and Kids in Museums patron, said: “When museums get it right for future generations, they get it right for all of us. This award celebrates that.”

The winner will be announced at the Wallace Collection, London on Monday October 17.
