Explaining change at South Terrace

I WRITE in response to the article (Gazette, May 3) and the letters (Gazette, May 10) regarding South Terrace and replacement windows and the removal of satellite dishes.

PVCu windows are not unacceptable in the vast majority of cases. However, with listed buildings and buildings of special character, the use of inappropriate materials harms the appearance of these buildings and the amenity of the area.

In the case of South Terrace, it is evident, when looking at the area, that the non-uniform appearance of the windows and the presence of aerials and satellite dishes on the front of the properties have a hugely negative impact upon their appearance. We believe that the requested changes would result in a dramatic improvement in the appearance of the area.
