The beauty of HBO’s smash TV show Succession is how good each character is written and performed.
There is not one character in the show who is incidental, they all play a part in the incredible storytelling throughout each season.
With season 4 airing in the UK from Monday, March 27, I have ranked the characters from best to worst. This all comes down to personal preference. I start with my least favourite and end with my favourite.
The character who has been through the most, mainly at his own doing. Every episode that goes by Kendall seems to be closer in following in his father's footsteps. It is a tour de force of a performance from Jeremy Strong. But Kendall, please stop rapping! Photo: Macall Polay
14. Shiv Roy (Sarah Snook)
The smartest of the Roy children. Capable of love and sadness, Shiv pushes it all down after growing up in a man's world. She jumps between being her father's favourite child and a thorn in his side. Treats Tom appallingly. A fantastic performance from Snook Photo: David M. Russell
15. Greg Hirsch (Nicholas Braun)
A fan favourite, Cousin Greg has integrated himself with his cousins and uncle and formed a brilliant double act with Tom - one of the best TV comedy duos of the last few years. Started off innocently but has been corrupted as the series has progressed. I can't help but feel (and hope) that Greg will come out of it all smelling of roses. Photo: warner media
16. Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfayden)
Initially a bit of a wet blanket, Tom' story arc has shown he is not a character to be underestimated. Downtrodden by Shiv, Tom has genuine feelings for her but sticks by her to stay in favour with Logan. He would do anything for his father-in-law and that last scene in season 3 showed how much influence his is going to have going into the next season.
It's a brilliant performance from Macfayden and his chemistry with Nicholas Braun is genius and one of the reasons why the writing of Succession is incomparable. Photo: Graeme Hunter
