Bourne Community College student 'rose to high expectations' as GCSE results revealed
Bourne Community College students 'rose to our high academic expectations' at they received their GCSE results today (Thursday, August 20).
Headteacher Yvonne Watkins said: "This year group will forever be remembered as the class of dedicated, ambitious students who put their hearts into their learning right from the start of their GCSE courses. They gelled brilliantly and as a highly academic year, they rose to our high academic expectations as a school and achieved much during their time with us.
"They had an abrupt end to their school career at Bourne Community College with Covid 19 but we are delighted to see the fruition of all their efforts, despite such an unusual and difficult time, and they have done themselves proud with the culmination of their GCSE results.
"We are very proud of them and their key achievements."
The college's highest achieving subjects were maths, biology, drama, P.E and statistics.
It has also seen 'significant improvement' in English and computer science and in triple science over 56 per cent of the cohort took this award .
Twenty per cent of students achieved the top grades of 7-9 of all grades in this higher category.
In English and Maths over 33 per cent of the cohort achieved grade 7 + - (equal to the old A grade)
Over two thirds achieved a grade 4+ in both English and maths which prepares them so well for their next stage of education
The school's highest achievers this year were:
Freya McCauley–Wright, Emma Bailey, Thomas Barker, Jacob Stent, Hayley Edmead, Jamie Morgan, Alice Coe, Hannah Blampied, Leo Routledge and Fred Rinaldi
The school gave a special mention to the following who have made significant progress since they started with us, surpassing all progress targets and expectations:
Chantal Gilmore, Emily Redman, Natasha Duignan, Jess Aburrow, Joel Hollingsworth, Robin Whitewood and Brooke Turner.
Yvonne added: "It has certainly been five years of hard work and determination.
"We send congratulations to All our departing students, who have successfully completed their time at the Bourne and have been a real credit to themselves as well as to the College.
"We wish them well for a very successful future, as they take up their hard earned places at local colleges and in their new ventures next year."
