David Etherton, executive head teacher at St Nicolas and St Mary CE Primary Primary School, in Eastern Avenue, Shoreham, launched ‘Awesome Assemblies’ when schools were closed.

The videos have been viewed thousands of times on YouTube – by people locally and further afield.

Mr Etherton has regularly starred alongside the school’s ‘head creature’, Mr Badger, but since their return to school, year-six pupils have been in front of the camera, as well as helping to make the videos.

This week’s effort, ‘Mr Badger’s Playlist’, is from the year-six class Violet Oysters, and can be viewed online here.

Mr Etherton said: “Our daily YouTube ‘Awesome Assemblies’ have been a great hit with children and parents alike – both in St Nic’s and beyond.

“Mr Badger, the ‘head creature’ of our school, has loved working with the children to provide entertaining and thought-provoking assemblies.

“I have really enjoyed the assemblies written and produced by year six – in these difficult times they are a breath of creativity and joy.”
