Designed to take users on an “omnisensory, fully-immersive VR experience” inside one of The Who’s all time classic tracks, Baba O’Riley, The Who Exhibition tells the story of the transformative years between 1969, the last time The Who played Hastings, and 1971, during which time the band were catapulted from generation-defining Mod Gods to international rock icons who would go onto sell over 100 million records worldwide. The Who Exhibition An Immersive Journey 1969 – 1971 runs until Christmas.

Spokesman Marc Foley Comer said: “A prototype in and of itself, the exhibition experience will be enhanced by the use of next-generation XR technology offering a truly unique opportunity for fans to engage more deeply and intimately with the band than ever before. Set in context of both the youth culture revolution My Generation years of the early 60s and the tumultuous decade that was to follow, the exhibition brings the best of the best imagery from a host of the greatest rock photographers of all time including Baron Wolman, David Montgomery, Neal Preston and Ray Stevenson.

“The accompanying narrative has been written by band biographer Mark Blake, providing an authoritative and engaging guide through the period with additional contributions from the likes of Mike McInnerney, the designer responsible for creating the striking visual images for the Tommy album artwork as well as playing a central role in the introduction of the teachings of Meher Baba to Pete Townshend.

“Additional highlights include a series of specially-commissioned new works from leading urban artists in response to the iconography of The Who and their music. The centrepiece of the exhibition is a unique immersive entertainment experience – the launch of the world’s first Immersive Single designed to take users on a physical and psychological journey inside of Baba O’Riley, the opening track of Who’s Next, considered to be one of the most iconic songs in classic rock history.”

Public previews through to Christmas at St Andrew’s Mews, Waldergrave Street, Hastings, TN34 TN3. For further details visit www.thewhoexhibition.com
