Earlier this week the County Times reported how pharmaceutical giant Novartis will cease operations at their Horsham site later this year - and now residents are having their say by asking for a hospital to be built there.

The online petition, set up by Christopher Ward, has received more than 600 signatures.

It reads: “At present there is no A&E capability within 40 minutes of this large area, which includes the towns of Horsham, Crawley and Gatwick Airport.

“For a rapidly expanding and densely populated part of the country this is simply unacceptable and this is the perfect opportunity to redress this glaring error.”
