Westgate Leisure Centre said the suite, which will be run by Everyone Active in partnership with Chichester District Council, would help people with mobility issues.

Available to men and women over the age of 18, the suite will provide a social, non-intimidating environment that allows people to exercise at an intensity that is suitable for their health needs.

It will include six toning chairs and six power tone machines, which are ‘ideal’ for anyone coming back to exercise after periods of rest or inactivity, and those with mobility or health issues, a spokesman said.

Anyone interested in using the Toning Suite will receive a separate membership to Westgate Leisure Centre’s standard gym membership.

The team will be providing supported low impact exercise programmes and specific circuit 30 minute classes.

Stuart Mills, Area Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said: “The new suite will extend our current offering and really benefit those who are not yet confident using our main gym, or need some support in getting back into exercise.

“Our power assisted equipment is kind on the body and along with our unique 30 minute circuit workout, provides the most innovative way to lose weight.

“At Everyone Active, we’re passionate about engaging people of all ages and backgrounds in exercise, and our new Toning Suite fully supports this.

“We’d encourage anyone who is interested in a membership to come and chat to our friendly team on reception.”

Councillor Roy Briscoe, Cabinet Member for Community Services at Chichester District Council, said: “Everyone Active’s new Toning Suite will be a great addition to the fantastic facilities already on offer at the Westgate Leisure Centre in Chichester.

“As a council, we are committed to ensuring that everybody can access facilities and services that enable them to exercise, relax, and make positive lifestyle choices.

“We all know that exercise can positively affect our physical and mental wellbeing, helping us to enjoy a long and happy life, but it’s not always easy to make the first step.

“This new suite is not only a great introduction for people who are new to exercise, but it is suitable for people of all ages and health needs, and we hope this encourages and enables even more people to improve their health and fitness.”
