Blue Sky Fostering, a fostering agency based in Portslade, has urged those who may be looking for a new career to consider fostering teenagers. Those who are looking to change lives for the better could also benefit from job security and the opportunity to work from home.

Teenagers account for the largest age group in the care system, with 39 per cent being aged 10-15 and 24 percent being aged 16 and over (*Department of Health statistics 2018-19 ).

Blue Sky Fostering provide 24/7 support and training.

Richard Pearce, Blue Sky foster carer, said: “My wife and I have had the pleasure of at least a dozen teenagers coming to stay with us in our time as Foster Carers, some just for a weekend some for four years right up until their transition from care to Independent living. The support from Blue Sky hasn’t changed during the lockdown, we continue to be supported online.”

If you think you have the resilience and stickability needed to look after teenagers and young people in care and want to find out more about fostering, find them on Facebook and Twitter.
