Anger about Storrington tree loss

FEELINGS are running high in Storrington following the removal of several trees at the rear of Chanctonbury Leisure Centre by contractors- including a fine oak tree which the parish council had been told would not be felled.

Residents and members of the parish council are upset by the loss, which occurred on February 26 as contractors carried out work to create more parking spaces on land at the rear of the centre.

Two ash trees, a very fine lime, and an oak tree which was not even part of the plans for additional parking spaces, were the best of those felled.
