Arundel wildlife photographers in the frame for top national prizes

VISITORS to the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust's (WWT) Arundel centre have just a few days left to snap up valuable photographic equipment in a national competition.

The WWT Nikon Photography Competition 2008 is in its second year and is open to everyone taking pictures at any of the nine wetland centres around the country.

Last year the winning picture in one of the main categories was taken at the Arundel centre by WWT member Eddie Howard, from Dorking, a regular visitor, who captured this stunning shot of a heron.

Photographers are not just limited to featuring the beautiful wildlife at the Arundel centre as their subjects '” competition organisers are also looking for photos of visitors interacting with nature.

The national winner will take home a Nikon D60 Digital SLR with an 18-55mm and a 55-200mm zoom lens, with a Coolpix P5100 digital camera going to the junior winner. The Nikon Digiscoping Photo of the Year winner will receive a Fieldscope ED 82mm and each regional winner in each category will win a pair of Nikon 8x25 Travelite EX binoculars.

The closing date for entries is Monday, September 8.
