Battle crime round-up

Here is this week's round-up of crimes committed in the Battle area.

A RIDE on lawn mower was taken from outside a property in Station Road, Robertsbridge, overnight on July 16/17. The Craftsman Ride On is worth 250. Police are examining CCTV footage.

A GROUP of youths smashed a window of a vacant shop in Battle High Street on July 18. The group of five males and one female also caused damage to the frame.

TOOLS worth 200 were taken from a property in Catsfield Road, Catsfield, which was being renovated, between 6pm on July 18 and 8am on the next day. The thief got in via the front of the property and the crime is not being linked to any other burglaries. The incident is being investigated by Bexhill CID.

Farm raided

A LARGE number of plumbing items and materials were stolen from a farm in Borders Lane, Etchingham, on July 19. A vehicle which was spotted in the area at the time, described as an open back transit van, white but very dirty, with no tail gate and doors on the back to make the sides higher.

THREE laptops were stolen from a house in Station Road, Crowhurst between 2-5.15pm on July 19. It is believed the thief got into the property via a window whilst the occupant was out. A suspicious male had called at the house earlier, enquiring about train times. The incident is not being linked to any other burglaries. CCTV footage is being examined and enquiries are continuing with Rother CID.

Stole from store

TWO young men stole packets of medication from the shelves at Tesco Express, Battle Hill, Battle, on July 20. The men were caught on CCTV and police enquiries are continuing.

A STATUE of a mother cradling a boy, standing about two foot high, was stolen from outside a property in Lower Lake, Battle, on July 21. The statue was very heavy and police say it would possibly have required two people and a vehicle to move it.

TWO youths were seen to smash the glass of a shop noticeboard at The Green, Sedlescombe, on July 21.

A CAR was deliberately scratched along the length of the near side whilst parked in Strand Meadow, Burwash, on July 22.

THIEVES broke into a 20ft metal storage container in Marley Lane, Battle, on July 23. The latch and padlock were broken off the door, but nothing was stolen.

A GARAGE was broken into overnight on July 22/23 at Mountfield Cricket Club.

A padlock was broken off and left at the scene, several items were moved around and an iron bar was taken and used to try and break into a container next to the garage.
