Air Ambulance: I left out two pubs when I said about the 24 mile helicopter push in aid of two worthwhile charities - the Stroke Association and Air Ambulance on August 27 and 28.

The sponsored push starts at the Woolpack, Tenterden at around 9am on August 27 and visits the Star at Rolvenden, the White Hart, at Newenden, the Staplecross inn and White Dog at Ewhurst, where there will be a barbecue and bands, dancing and fun.

All are welcome to the Bodiam Castle Inn on August 28 when the chairman of the parish council may be at the pub to welcome them.

After that they visit the Eight Bells at Hawkhurst Moor then up the big hill to the Queen’s at Hawkhurst and on to the Oak and Ivy at Hawkhurst. The finishing line awaits at the New Swan at Sandhurst roundabout at around 3pm where everyone is welcome to come along and support the Kerry family and friends.

To donate, visit Virgin Money at virginmoneygiving.com/team/helicopterpush or you can give on the two days during the push if you see the team or in the pubs.

The Good Old Days: Bodiam has too many people who are in the care of the NHS. I do feel it would be good to have a little hospital and sometimes a little police station. I do hope that soon we will have good news on the many people who are not in the best of health.

Many years ago we did have a small hospital in the village - the Parish Room that is now the home of many meetings.

Cricket: The Cricket Club is away to Rotherfield on August 28 with a start of 1.30pm.

Voting Rights: I am sure that all of Bodiam had the annual enquiry from the Rother District Council Electoral Registration Officer about the need to know who lives at your address, in order to know who is eligible to vote. It is important to provide the information requested. If you don’t you could be fined £1,000 and your name may be removed from the electoral register. If you are convicted you could be imprisoned for up to six months and I know the people of Bodiam would not like that.

Transport: Bus service 349 runs on Bank Holiday Monday. The times are: Hastings Rail Station: 0849, 1049, 1349, 1549 - 0927, 1127, 1427 and 1627.

Bodiam: 0943, 1143, 1443, 1643.
