Bognor beach clean-ups

Eleven volunteers who scoured Bognor Regis west beach played their part in a record-breaking survey.

The helpers surveyed 20 metres of the foreshore.

Of the items they found, just under 52 per cent was plastic litter.

This was less than the highest-ever average of 58 per cent-plus at 1,198 items of litter per km from beaches around the country.

The results of last September's Beachwatch along Bognor beach have been included in the Marine Conservation Society's report about the surveys.
