Bognor camera club zooms in on new base

Bognor Regis Camera Club has announced a move to a new base, St Mary's Centre, Felpham.

Peter King, club spokesman, said: "The club has been growing in size steadily over the past couple of years, and the rate at which new members are now joining is growing exponentially! It became clear at the end of last year the meeting venue was getting near to full capacity so a new venue was sought and found.

"Among its many advantages, St Mary's Centre boasts a 190-seating capacity in the main hall, a large free car park with 105 spaces adjacent to the venue and a 3m x 3m permanently-fixed projection screen which was installed by the club in conjunction with the Horticultural Society. It is also only five minutes drive away from the previous venue."

Club chairman Rob de Ruiter, who has been instrumental in overseeing the club's recent rise in popularity and in instigating the move to the new venue, said: "The new possibilities now open to the club in making this move are endless and it makes our prospects for the rest of this season very exciting indeed.

"We are also now making bookings for our 2010/2011 season and having this wonderful new venue at our disposal is enabling us to book more well-known names from the photographic world in the full confidence that we will be able to accommodate the larger audiences that these will attract. There is also a small hall available at the new venue where we will be running workshops and tutorials on a wide range of photographic subjects to complement our main meetings."

St Mary's Centre is in Grassmere Close, Felpham. Bognor Regis Camera Club meets there weekly, usually on a Tuesday but occasionally on a Thursday evening, during the season which runs from September through to May. All meetings are at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start and finish about 10pm.

"New members are always welcome, whatever their level of expertise, from complete novice to professional expert. Please just go along to a meeting and introduce yourself at the door."
