The tree on the pavement in Salthill Road will be felled on May 21 because it is causing a nearby house subsidence problems.

The owner cannot be found and Bridget Stap pleaded: “This tree is a magnificent specimen and has taken many years to reach its splendid size and shape. We are the custodians of our area and should be finding ways of safeguarding Mother Nature in all her glory, which means doing everything to avoid destroying our environment. Nobody can sit back and let their house subside but we need to be 1000 per cent sure felling is the only solution!

“Can anyone offer another solution to felling? Is anyone a tree surgeon and could give a second opinion?”
