Robbie Burns has stepped down as chairman of Chichester Area Talking News

The new chairman is David McVittie and Robbie will be continuing with CATN as an area helper.

During his chairmanship, Robbie has also been a volunteer Sammy Bus driver, a stalwart of the British Heart Foundation team and race director for the Bognor 10K, which attracts 2,000 runners and has raised more than £30,000 for local charities.

At the recent CATN annual meeting, Robbie was praised for his ten years as chairman and presented with a gift of Dartington wine glasses and a tour of Goodwood House with afternoon tea.

His wife, Jakki, who has supported him throughout his chairmanship, was presented with a large bouquet.

Every fortnight, CATN produces an hour of local news on memory stick and CD, which are mailed, free of charge, to blind and partially sighted people in Chichester, Bognor Regis, Midhurst and Petworth.

It covers the area from the coastal towns and villages as far north to Haslemere, east to Elmer and west to Emsworth.
