Challenge's £40,000 boost for charity

More than £40,000 is believed to have been raised for charity during this year's Chichester Challenge.

The damp weather over the weekend may have meant the number of competitors was lower than previous years, but the determination to complete the course was just as great.

Young and old, with four legs and two, set off from Oaklands Park on Sunday morning to raise money for around 30 charities, and were able to take in spectacular views of the South Downs.

For some, it was a leisurely walk or a run on either the 12k, 25k or 40k route. For others, a bike ride for either 30k or 55k was their challenge.

Organiser Doug Price said: "I am pleased with the turnout, although it was a little lower than we expected because of the weather."
