Child attacked on first day at school

Jack Morris didn't have the best start at his new school.

His mother claimed the 11 year old was attacked on his first day at Bexhill High by an older boy who had to be pulled away.

Now she wants to thank the man who came to the rescue.

Zoe Morris said: "I want to say thank you so much to this stranger who stepped in, because it could have been a horrific attack...you don't know, do you?

"It was Jack's first day at school and he looked so handsome and smart in his uniform.

"Then he got attacked outside the school on his way home by a child a year older."

Zoe, of Glovers Lane, heard about the incident when Jack borrowed a mobile and called her to say what happened.

"He was sobbing his heart out on the phone," she said.

She telephoned the police and Jack is due to be interviewed by a Child Protection Officer - meanwhile she is hoping the adult witness will come forward.

Zoe was "upset" by the attack and thought Jack might not want to go to school the next day.

"But he wanted to go in because he said he didn't want the bully to get away with it. Then three of his little friends turned up in the morning to take him to school.

"Now I just want to thank the man who pulled the child off - who know what might have happened to my son if this man hadn't intervened?

"It's not often that members of the public step in nowadays, and I am so grateful."
