The charity launched its 50th anniversary appeal ‘Sussex Giving for Sussex Children’ last October. It aims to raise half a million pounds worth of funding in 2017, to be split between 10 children’s services in Sussex. Nine months in, Rockinghorse has announced it has reached £380,000 of its target and have completed five out of 10 beneficiary projects.

Projects all over Sussex have already benefited from the campaign including 20 defibrillators being placed in schools around Sussex to support The Connor Saunders Foundation, and a garden log cabin sensory space for young residents with learning disabilities at Tudor House in Brighton.

Ryan Heal, chief executive at Rockinghorse, said: “Since our appeal began, our supporters have helped us raise over £380,000 towards our total.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to each and every person who has contributed to our appeal. We are over the moon to be able to announce that five of our 10 projects have already been completed.

“We still have £120,000 to go to achieve our ultimate goal of raising £500,000 in our 50th year, so although we’re well on our way, please do keep supporting Rockinghorse and let’s get over the line together.”

The charity is still hoping to fund an asthma clinical trial at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton, and the introduction of a Metavision system for the neighbouring Trevor Mann Baby Unit, alongside other Sussex projects.
