Coastguard visit to Charters Ancaster nursery

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency visited the nursery children at Charters Ancaster Preparatory & Nursery school.

The nursery was learning about lifeboats and coastguards and arranged for Holly Shoesmith from the MCA to come and talk to the children.

After the talk they were allowed to get in the coastguards emergency vehicle and were amazed at all the equipment it carried, with Isabella commenting: "It's just like Dr Who's Tardis".

The highlight for the children was seeing the emergency lights flashing and hearing the siren, although Tagen said: " It was really noisy when the siren went off!".

The children learned that 999 was an emergency and raised over 30 by dressing up as pirates and seamen for the day.
