BREAKING NEWS: Littlehampton man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

POLICE have arrested a 19-year-old Littlehampton man on suspicion of attempted murder at an address in the town.

The arrest yesterday (Thursday) followed an incident on Saturday, which led to a 26-year-old man, also from Littlehampton, being taken to Worthing Hospital with superficial stab wounds to his face, arms and back. The man was treated for his wounds and has since been discharged from hospital.

Detective Inspector Pip Taylor, of West Sussex CID, said: “The arrest was part of a pre-planned operation and an on-going investigation in the town to try and trace two vital witnesses.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in Arundel Road, Littlehampton at around 8.30pm on Saturday, November 5.

“If you have any information that could help police with their inquiries, please call 101, quoting Operation Mallard, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 111 555.”

The 19-year-old man remains in custody.
