Deliberate barn fire in Beckley

A barn fire in Beckley was deemed deliberate by firefighters.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a barn fire on Stoddards Lane at around 7:40am on Monday, November 30.

Four appliances from Hastings, Broad Oak and Rye attended the incident.

The fire had started under the barn floor and involved no straw bales.

Crews used one hose reel jet and a water shuttle to extinguish the fire.

The barn is used to house animals but fortunately the fire was extinguished before too much damage was caused. There are

no reports of animals being hurt.

Fire crews used a thermal imaging camera and spent time cutting away and damping down to ensure the fire would not reignite.

After the incident, a fire investigation took place which found the cause to be deliberate.
