Eastbourne man charged with assaulting woman and police officers

An Eastbourne man has been charged with assaulting a woman and two police officers.

Sussex Police said James Finlayson, unemployed, of Hamsey Close, has been charged with assault by beating, two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, and obstructing and resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.

Officers said that around 6.45pm on Thursday (July 16), police were called to reports of an assault in Hamsey Close, in which the victim suffered a facial injury.

Police said officers attended but when they made efforts to arrest the suspect, they were assaulted and suffered minor injuries.

Finlayson is due to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, July 18, according to police.
