Police have raided a cannabis farm in Eastbourne town centre.

Officers rushed to an address in Cavendish Place at 10am on Saturday (May 23) following reports of cannabis plants being grown there, said police.

On entering the premises, police said they found 87 mature cannabis plants across three different rooms. A further 77 immature plants were found in the loft space.

Sussex Police say a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of producing a Class B drug (cannabis). They have both been released on conditional bail until June 19 while enquiries continue.

Inspector Rachel Barrow from the local policing team in Eastbourne said, “This is another example of the work going on to make Eastbourne a hostile and unwelcome place for people looking to grow, sell and distribute drugs.

“This criminality will not be tolerated and we will continue to take action, listening to the information fed to us through our communities and using our own police intelligence to identify those responsible.”
