Two more Horsham motorists charged with drink driving offences

Two Horsham district motorists have been charged with drink driving offences as part of Sussex Police’s latest crackdown.

Helen Gramson, 32, of Longfellow Close, Horsham, was arrested at 8.25pm on Saturday June 21 after her car was seen being driven at speed in St Marks Lane, Horsham.

She was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on July 9.

Elizabeth Cogbill, 20, of Charrington Way, Broadbridge Heath, was arrested at 3.30am on Sunday June 22 after a crash on the A272 in Billingshurst.

She was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on October 14.

A total of 76 people across West Sussex have now been charged this month as part of Operation Dragonfly, Sussex Police’s crackdown on drink and drug-driving.

Superintendent Jane Derrick, the head of the force’s roads policing unit, said: “A large proportion of those who we are arresting are being found behind the wheel in the early hours of the morning.

“If you think you can get away with drink-driving at 1am you should think again. Our officers are out on patrol looking for the slightest indication that you are unfit to be on the roads.

“You are not just putting your own life at risk, you are endangering everyone else using the roads.”
