Arun issues beach warning to residents

Arun District Council has issued a warning to residents in the area after a white substance was discovered on a stretch of coastline between Littlehampton and Elmer.

A number of small white balls have been washed up along the length of the beach, a spokeswoman for the authority announced this morning (Monday, November 26).

It is believed they are likely to be natural emulsified oils and organic matter, which are commonly washed up on beaches following stormy sea weather.

As a precaution, Arun is advising people not to touch the items or allow pets to eat them.

The council will continue to monitor the situation. The beaches remain open as usual.
